So long Old Friend

Alan-Rickman-570x350
Alan Rickman (1946-2016) , also known for his role as Severus Snape in the “Harry Potter” film series.

Sad day it is for many fans of the Harry Potter series (the Sweeney Todd musical as well). I couldn’t believe it when I saw it on the news that one of our most beloved characters, as well as a notable actor Alan Rickman had passed. I’m sure I’m not alone when I say I hated Snape upon first seeing him in the “Sorcerers Stone” and by the end of the movie I was ready to give him one good punch to the gut. But over the years I’ve come to love the character and everything the Professor stood for.

He’s almost like that one really mean high school teacher everyone hates but by the time you graduate you realize they were so hard on you because they cared. They are the ones who see something better in you that you didn’t see yourself and when you look back on it, you have nothing but admiration for the teacher.

With each passing movie and little by little the back story of Professor Snape revealed, he slowly became a favorite of mine with his cold but caring demeanor and found myself  growing more attached to the Slytherin side of Hogwarts (sorry Griffindor). I wont spoil anything for those who haven’t seen it but Snape’s actions did him all the justice in the last movie!

I wish we could see more of your acting for the future on big screen and whenever a Harry Potter movie is shown we will always be reminded of the flavor you brought to the franchise.   Mr. Alan Rickman, thank you for a marvelous performance and may your broom soar higher than the stars themselves. I will definitely be wearing my Slytherin gear this year.

Values

alb-einst-man-of-value

First post of 2016 and it’s well over do. In my absence these past few weeks I was able to reflect and think about what exactly makes me a man of value. Short answer: myself! (surprise). My morals, the way I treat others, my ideas, my views, my personality. The combination of all my traits makes me someone of value. I believe what Einstein was trying to say is that success is a great thing to have but can be taken away from you at any moment, but if you’re a person who has value no one can take that away from you.

Remember, Your value doesn’t have a price tag. Surround yourself with individuals who know and appreciate your worth, as well as their own. I hope everyone is off to a good 2016 and I’ll be on the look out for all of your stories this year!
